Somalia, 10 December 2025 – The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has announced that 12 Al-Shabaab fighters were killed during an operation carried out on Tuesday night in Jambaluul village, Afgooye district, in the Lower Shabelle region.
In a press statement issued today, NISA said the operation targeted tunnels and centers Al-Shabaab had been using to plan attacks, and that the operation turned into direct, close-range combat.
The agency added that Al-Shabaab fired mortar shells at civilian areas, causing injuries to civilians as well as two NISA officers. The agency did not specify the number of civilians injured.
“The Government of Somalia deeply regrets the harm caused to civilians by the desperate attack of the Khawaarij,” the statement said.

NISA confirmed that all injured officers and civilians are currently receiving medical care.
The agency stated that operations against Al-Shabaab will continue in order to secure the area and protect the local population.
