Somalia, 7 May 2026 — Somalia’s Human Rights Commission Chairperson Maryam Qasim met with Qatari Ambassador Abdullahi bin Saalim Al-Nuami on Wednesday to discuss human rights cooperation.
The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between the commission and the Qatari Human Rights Commission in technical experience exchange, building institutional capacities, and improving human rights monitoring and reporting systems.

Both sides agreed to establish robust frameworks to protect the rights of Somali citizens, while strengthening and advancing legal institutions in Somalia.
The dialogue highlights an important step in enhancing the relationship between the two countries, with joint efforts underway to improve human rights in Somalia.
