Somalia, 3 January 2026 The Federal Government of Somalia has praised Saudi Arabia for what it described as a constructive and responsible role in advancing efforts to promote national dialogue in Yemen.
A press statement issued the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said Somalia welcomed Saudi Arabia’s initiative to host an inclusive Yemeni conference in Riyadh at the request of Yemen’s legitimate leadership, describing the move as a clear demonstration of commitment to dialogue, consensus-building, and peaceful political engagement.
Somalia noted that the Riyadh initiative provides a comprehensive framework allowing all Yemeni stakeholders to express their views within a political process that safeguards Yemen’s unity and sovereignty, while contributing to enhanced security and stability.

Somalia further expressed appreciation for regional and international efforts aimed at supporting the Yemeni people as they navigate ongoing challenges, stressing the importance of meaningful and constructive engagement by all parties.
The statement emphasized that such engagement should be guided by national unity and the prioritization of Yemen’s supreme national interest above all other considerations.
Reaffirming its principled position, Somalia said it supports all genuine initiatives that contribute to achieving lasting peace through dialogue and mutual understanding, in a manner that fulfills the aspirations of the Yemeni people and preserves the unity and sovereignty of their country.
