Mogadishu (Dawan) – Interior Ministry Director General Mohamed Shire said Somalia needs cooperation and clear laws to secure its coastline and borders.
Shirel made the remarks at a conference organized by federal and regional security officials to discuss security threats and measures needed to tackle them.
“We want this conference to produce practical and meaningful outcomes,” said Shire, emphasizing the importance of security officials holding in-depth discussions and exchanging views on the country's security situatuon.

The conference is being attended by police officers from both the federal and regional levels and internal security officials among others.
The UNDP is among the organizations that facilitated the conference, with its officials also providing training and expert advice.
Government officials said the new piracy cases highlight the need to strengthen coastal monitoring and enhance cooperation among agencies to effectively respond to security threats along Somalia's coastline.
