Somalia, 5 July 2026 – Somalia’s military court sentenced two Al-Shabaab militants to life imprisonment and two others to 10 and 15 years in prison after convicting all four on charges linked to bomb attacks, targeted killings and logistics operations.
According to Somalia’s Military Court, the four men were accused of involvement in militant activities including bomb-making, assassinations, espionage, recruitment and transporting members of the group.
The ruling made by the Supreme Military Court on Friday followed an appeal by military prosecutors after additional investigations.
The two mikitants sentenced to life in prison were Aweys Abdalla Ali Kamiri and Abdinasir Ali Ahmed. Sa’id Hasan Isaq Roble was sentenced to 15 years in prison, while Mohamed Abdullahi Abdulle received a 10-year prison sentence.
The court said Kamiri, also known as Shubka Sa’id, played a central role in planning attacks and coordinating bomb operations in Mogadishu.

The court also said the group had adopted new methods of concealing explosives in household items to avoid detection by security forces.
During the hearing prosecutors said three of the suspects were arrested with explosive materials concealed inside food warmers and paint cans, along with equipment used in bomb-making operations.
The four were part of a network linked to attacks targeting businesses, homes, security personnel and civilians, causing casualties and property damage.
Somali authorities said the ruling reflects continued efforts to dismantle Al Shabaab networks and strengthen counterterrorism operations across the country.
