MOGADISHU (Dawan Africa) — Somalia's Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre met Italian Ambassador to Somalia Daccò Coppi in Mogadishu on Monday to discuss bilateral cooperation and ongoing development projects, the Prime Minister's office said.
The meeting discussed a number of development initiatives supported by the Italian government, including plans to construct three hospitals in the districts of Afmadow in Lower Juba, Harardhere in Mudug and Adale in Middle Shabelle.
Barre praised the longstanding relationship between Somalia and Italy, particularly in the areas of diplomacy, development, education, and humanitarian support.

The Prime Minister briefed the ambassador on progress made in security and economic and electoral reforms.
For his part, ambassador Coppi reaffirmed Italy’s commitment to continuing support for Somalia, especially through development and reconstruction projects across the country.
Italy remains one of Somalia’s long-standing international partners and has historically played a major role in supporting education, infrastructure and institutional development in the country.
