DJIBOUTI, 16 August 2026 — The Ardo Bankoualé Association on Friday launched the second edition of an inter-community cultural and sports event aimed at promoting youth participation, social cohesion and local culture.
The event opened Aug. 14 in the town of Ardo Bankoualé under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Culture.
Young people from Ardo, Dougoum, Sagallou, Kalaf, Imma, Disay and Day took part in the gathering, which brought together communities from across the region.
Organizers said the event focused on themes of youth engagement, peaceful coexistence and the promotion of local culture.
Residents welcomed participants and delegations, describing the gathering as an opportunity to strengthen solidarity and ties between communities.

The program also included an exhibition of handicrafts by the Ardo Women’s Artisan Cooperative, showcasing local skills and products and highlighting women’s role in preserving the area’s cultural heritage.
The opening ceremony was attended by Souleiman Houmad Abdi, director of regions at the Ministry of Youth and Culture, along with regional officials, the village chief of Ardo Bankoualé and representatives of youth movements and associations.
The Ardo Bankoualé Association said the initiative provides young people with a space to meet and take part in cultural and sporting activities while strengthening relations between communities.
The Ministry of Youth and Culture welcomed the initiative and encouraged local organizations to continue supporting youth, culture, sport, women’s handicrafts and social cohesion in the regions.
