Somalia, 7 April 2026 Somalia’s Public Works Minister Ayub Ismail met with International Organization for Migration officials Tuesday to discuss support for displaced people, state media said.
The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation to improve infrastructure, bolster community resilience, and expedite the resettlement of displaced people across the country.
Minister Ayub emphasized that the Somali government has designated land for IDP resettlement, which will include basic services, and plans are also in place to build vocational training centers to create job opportunities for displaced communities.

He further noted that the initiatives are part of broader government efforts to strengthen community support, especially for displaced persons.
The Minister highlighted the importance of the ongoing partnership between Somalia and IOM, stating that the collaboration would play a vital role in supporting vulnerable populations and contributing to the country’s overall development.
