Mogadishu, (Dawan Africa) — Somali government held a high-level meeting in Mogadishu to boost Ebola preparedness and prevention as cases rise in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.
The meeting held at the National Emergency Operations Center for Public Health brought together officials from the Ministries of Internal Security, Foreign Affairs, Health and Aviation.
The Director General of Civil Aviation, and the Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority also attended.
The meeting focused on enhancing Ebola prevention and preparedness plans for Ebola and strengthening inter-agency coordination.

The government said it was concentrating on prevention efforts on points of entry including airports, seaports, and land borders.Health teams testing equipment and lab capacity have also been deployed to test cases before they spread.
This meeting is part broader efforts to counter emerging infectious disease threats in the region, especially amid ongoing outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.
International organizations, including WHO, are supporting the government by providing guidance and monitoring the effectiveness of prevention measures.
