Mogadishu (Dawan Africa) Somalia’s Gu rainy season began with early rains causing localized flooding in Middle Shabelle, Gedo, Galgaduud and Togdheer regions.
In Middle Shabelle, the Shabelle River overflowed, inundating Shinile village. In Jowhar, flooding caused by the rains displaced nearly 400 households, according to preliminary reports on the rainfall situation.
In Togdheer region, flash floods in Buuhoodle displaced more than 250 families, injured 25 people and killed two others.
In Galgaduud, flash floods in Baraag Abdille affected 500 pastoralist families, with reports saying the floods killed 6,000 livestock.
