Somalia, 30 April 2026 Somalia’s agriculture ministry launched a climate-smart farming training programme to boost crop production and strengthen farmers’ resilience to climate change, its officials said Wednesday.
The training focuses on modern farming techniques to address challenges faced by farmers, including irregular rainfall, land degradation and limited access to agricultural inputs, the ministry said in a statement.
It also covers the use of agricultural technology, water and soil management, and reducing post-harvest losses.

The programme, organised by the Department of Crop Production and Food Security, comes at a time when Somalia is experiencing the Gu rainy season, a key period for agricultural production in Somalia.
Officials said the initiative would help boost crop yields, strengthen farmers’ resilience to climate change and improve food security in the country.
The ministry said it would continue efforts to promote modern agriculture to achieve higher productivity and food self-sufficiency.
