Mogadishu, 14 September 2026 A new partnership aimed at strengthening the quality of higher education and research in Somalia was established in Mogadishu on Monday after Hormuud University and Somaliya University signed a cooperation agreement.
The agreement seeks to strengthen relations between the two universities, with a focus on the exchange of knowledge and expertise, research, improving the quality of education, and creating additional educational opportunities.
The partnership is also expected to create new opportunities for students and members of the wider higher education community, as the two universities collaborate on educational and academic programs aimed at improving the quality of higher education in Somalia.
Officials from both universities said the agreement represents an important step toward strengthening cooperation among Somali higher education institutions and could contribute to the development and improvement of the country's education sector.
