Ethiopia, 23 June 2026 – Somali Regional State President Mustafe Muhumed Omar laid the foundation stone for a project to build 20 homes for low-income families in Jigjiga, state media reported on Monday.
The project is part of a summer volunteer programme aimed at supporting vulnerable households and families with limited income.
The new homes will each have three rooms, according to SRTV Somali. Officials said 15 similar houses had previously been built in the same area and are now being used by low-income families, including people with special needs.
The regional administration said the project is part of wider development plans to strengthen community self-reliance and improve living standards for poor families.
