Mogadishu – Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre on Monday inaugurated a new road in Mogadishu's Deynile district, as the federal government continues efforts to improve urban infrastructure in the capital.
The two-kilometre road stretches from the Deynile junction to the district headquarters and is expected to ease the movement of residents and vehicles while improving access within the area.
Banadir Regional Administration Governor and Mogadishu Mayor Hassan Mohamed Hussein “Mungab” , said the road would play an important role in improving transportation and supporting economic activity in the district.
"God has enabled us to complete this two-kilometre road, which runs from the Deynile junction to the district headquarters," Muungaab said during the inauguration ceremony.

He added that the Banadir administration plans to construct additional roads across the capital, while identifying the development of Mogadishu's stormwater drainage system as its top infrastructure priority to reduce flooding during the rainy season.
Prime Minister Hamza urged regional authorities and residents to preserve the cleanliness and appearance of the newly built roads.
"The roads have been built, and they look beautiful. But we still have shortcomings when it comes to cleanliness. We must develop a culture of keeping these roads free of waste so they remain as beautiful as they are today," the Prime Minister said.
The inauguration is part of broader efforts by Somalia's federal government and the Banadir Regional Administration to expand urban infrastructure across Mogadishu. Officials say similar projects are planned in other districts, alongside a major stormwater drainage initiative.
