DJIBOUTI (Dawan) – 13 August 2026 – Djibouti’s Military Police said they have dismantled a network accused of trafficking, distributing and selling cannabis following an operation in Balbala district of Djibouti City, according to the state-owned broadcaster RTD.
The operation, carried out on Wednesday by the Einguella Military Police Brigade, resulted in the arrest of several individuals suspected of involvement at different levels of the alleged network. Authorities also identified a location used for storing narcotics.
Security forces said investigations led them to a cannabis storage site in the Balbala Wahledaba area, where they discovered 88 packages of cannabis with a total weight of 12 kilograms.

The seized cannabis was estimated to have a market value of 1.76 million Djiboutian francs, equivalent to about $9,883.31. The confiscated drugs were handed over to judicial authorities in accordance with legal procedures.
The suspects have been placed in temporary detention and will be brought before the court for further legal proceedings.
Djibouti’s National Police said they will continue operations targeting drug trafficking networks and activities that threaten public safety.
