MOGADISHU (Dawan Africa) — Somali opposition politicians on Saturday announced the timing and locations of planned protests in Mogadishu, saying demonstrations will begin Sunday morning across all districts of the Banaadir region.
At a press conference in Mogadishu, opposition leaders said the protests would start at 7:00 a.m. and would not be limited to a single day.
“This protest is tomorrow at seven in the morning. It is not a one-day protest; once it starts, it will continue until everyone receives their rights,” former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheyre said.
Opposition figures said the demonstrations are intended to demand justice for people complaining about land-related issues and displacement. They also stressed that the protests should remain peaceful and warned against any attempts to suppress demonstrators.

The opposition had earlier called for large-scale demonstrations in Mogadishu on May 10. Following those calls, the Somali government announced a suspension of some land-related actions linked to urban redevelopment in the capital.
The government also announced plans to build 12,000 homes aimed at supporting around 80,000 displaced and low-income residents in Mogadishu as part of a new housing initiative.
