MOGADISHU, 27 October 2026 (Dawan) — The Federal Government of Somalia has denied reports alleging that Turkish F-16 fighter jets or armed drones carried out airstrikes on Somali National Army positions in Leego on October 26.
In a statement issued by the National Security Office, the government described the reports as fabricated and baseless, confirming that no Turkish aircraft had mistakenly targeted Somali forces.
The government said cooperation between Somalia and Türkiye remains a strategic partnership focused on accelerating counterterrorism operations, strengthening security and building lasting peace.
It also urged the media and the Somali public to rely on official sources for information and avoid spreading unverified reports that could undermine public confidence in the security forces.
The statement follows reports alleging that Turkish F-16 fighter jets had conducted airstrikes in the Leego area.
