Somali elders briefed opposition leaders Wednesday on their talks with President Hassan Sheikh amid disputes over elections and constitution.
The meeting focused on ways to reach political consensus through dialogue and negotiation, opposition figures who attended the meeting said.
The elders met the president on Tuesday in Mogadishu during a state dinner held at the presidential palace.
“Our objective was to ask the elders what came out of those discussions and what options remain if no agreement is reached,” former President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed who attended the briefing said.
