Kenya, 7 June 2026 - Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration, Dr. Raymond Omollo, has intensified efforts to rally the Nyanza region behind President William Ruto's re-election bid, urging residents to embrace peace, tolerance, and national unity as the country gradually heads towards the 2027 General Election.
Speaking at Migosi in Kisumu County, Dr. Omollo said the Kenya Kwanza administration had invested heavily in transforming Nyanza through massive infrastructure and economic development projects that are already changing the region's fortunes.
The PS was accompanied by Shakeel Shabbir, Lake Basin Development Authority Managing Director Wycliffe Ochiaga, and a host of leaders drawn from both UDA and ODM.
Dr. Omollo told congregants that the people of Nyanza owed President William Ruto a debt of gratitude for what he termed unprecedented government investment in the region.
"The President means well for the people of Nyanza. That is why he has supported numerous development projects whose impact is visible for all to see," said Dr. Omollo.
He cited investments in roads, electricity connectivity, water projects, healthcare facilities, affordable housing programmes, and the modernisation of the Kisumu Port alongside feeder ports around the Lake Victoria basin as some of the flagship initiatives being implemented under the current administration.
According to the PS, the region is witnessing a historic economic transformation after decades of perceived marginalisation by successive governments, largely due to Nyanza's long-standing opposition politics.
"Today, we are seeing equitable distribution of national resources. The President believes no part of Kenya should be left behind in development. That is why major economic transformation projects are ongoing across Nyanza," he said.
Dr. Omollo dismissed criticism from political opponents who accuse government officials of engaging in politics whenever they highlight ongoing projects.
"Some people claim we are talking politics when we mention successful projects. But that is the reality on the ground. We cannot hide development. We must be accountable for the authority entrusted to us and explain to wananchi what we have achieved," he stated.
He further assured residents that more development programmes were on the way.
"It is unfortunate that some people become uncomfortable when they see these successes. But I can assure you that even more projects are coming. Continue supporting the President's development agenda because he has many more goodies in store for this region," he added.
More from Kenya
Dr. Omollo expressed confidence that Nyanza would experience an economic renaissance unlike anything witnessed before and urged residents to support President Ruto's quest for a second term in office.
On his part, MP Shakeel Shabbir said leaders from the region would continue popularising the President's development record.
"No leader has embraced this region the way President Ruto has. The people of Nyanza should not shame him. They should show their appreciation by supporting his re-election in 2027," said Shabbir.
There were prayers for the President, members of the Cabinet, Dr. Omollo, and the people of Kenya.
Both political and religious leaders used the occasion to call for peaceful political engagement and issue-based campaigns ahead of the next election cycle.
Dr. Omollo also reassured Kenyans that the government would continue strengthening security operations across the country.
"We will continue enhancing security patrols, surveillance, and intelligence-led operations to ensure criminal activities do not undermine the social and economic fabric of our nation," he said.
His remarks come as political activity begins to gather momentum across the country, with leaders positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 polls while the government seeks to consolidate support around its development agenda.
