Addis Ababa — Ethiopia’s ruling Prosperity Party has won 438 out 501 seats in the House of People’s Representatives in the country’s 7th general election.
The country’s election board announced the final results of the election, which was held on June 1, 2026. The board said the results had been approved and officially endorsed.
Tesfaye Neway, Deputy Chairperson of the National Election Board of Ethiopia, said the election had followed the required procedures, adding that the board had verified the overall results.

According to the announced results, the Prosperity Party secured majority of the parliamentary seats. The victory allows the party to further strengthen its political influence in the House of People’s Representatives.
EZEMA came in second, winning 13 parliamentary seats. The ABN party won 6 seats, which it secured from the Amhara region. Meanwhile, Medrek won 3 seats from the Sidama region. Other political parties and independent candidates also won parliamentary seats.
The results announcement ceremony was attended by Ethiopia President Taye Atske Selassie, representatives of political parties, civil society organizations, ambassadors from various countries, and members of different media outlets.
