Somalia, 16 June 2026 – The Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemned Somaliland’s opening of an embassy in Jerusalem, saying the move had no legitimacy and violated international law.
In a statement issued on Monday, the ministry said any diplomatic step taken by Somaliland in Jerusalem was “null and void” and would not change the city’s internationally recognised legal status.
The ministry said the move violated United Nations Security Council resolutions, particularly resolutions 476 and 478, which reject measures aimed at changing the status of Jerusalem.
It also criticised Israel’s recognition of Somaliland, saying Palestine fully supports the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
