Kenya, May 01, 2026 - Former nominated senator Millicent Omanga has lost her position at Kenya Shipyards Limited following a new wave of government appointments and reappointments announced by President William Ruto and several Cabinet Secretaries.
In a gazette notice issued by Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya, Omanga’s appointment as a member of the Kenya Shipyards Board was formally revoked with immediate effect from April 30, 2026.
“I hereby revoke the appointment of Millicent Nyaboke Omanga as a Member of the Board of Directors of Kenya Shipyards Limited with effect from 30th April, 2026,” the notice stated.
The move comes months after Omanga publicly declared support for the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), a political outfit linked to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Her removal formed part of a wider government reshuffle that saw several officials either reappointed or handed fresh roles in different state agencies and boards.
President Ruto renewed the appointments of Moses Cheboi, Peter Ereri Nyaga and Mueni Kalola to the Advocates Complaints Commission for another three-year term.
The President also extended the tenure of Ngeny Biwott as Chairperson of the Kenya National Accreditation Service Board.
Elsewhere, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen officially gazetted the appointment of former Nairobi Regional Commissioner Gilbert Kitiyo as Principal Registrar of the National Registration Bureau.
Kitiyo had been appointed earlier in February, but the formal gazettement had delayed for weeks. His appointment replaces Christopher Wanjau.

In another appointment, East African Community Cabinet Secretary Beatrice Askul reappointed Dr Nkaesha Naikuni to continue serving on the Ewaso Ng’iro South River Basin Development Authority Board for another three years.
William Larus was also named as a new board member in the same authority.
Chief Justice Martha Koome also announced fresh changes within the judiciary and tribunal system.
Koome reappointed Carolyne Mboku as Chairperson of the HIV and AIDS Tribunal alongside other members for a new three-year term.
She further named Anne Nderu as Chairperson of the Public Benefit Organisations Disputes Tribunal, alongside four newly appointed members.
The latest appointments and dismissals come at a time when political alignments within government circles continue to shift ahead of the 2027 General Election.
