Mogadishu, 15 September 2026 - Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency said on Tuesday it had arrested 11 suspected Al-Shabaab operatives during operations in Mogadishu and Afgoye.
NISA said the suspects belonged to networks the militant group was preparing to use for activities that could threaten security. It said the operations took place in Darussalam, Garasbaley, Kahda, Daynile and Afgoye, and that its forces seized weapons and other materials.
The agency published photographs it said showed the suspects, whose faces were blurred, as well as vehicles and other items it said were seized.

NISA did not say when the arrests took place, identify the suspects or give details of the alleged plans.
The agency said the operations were part of its efforts to prevent attacks by Al-Shabaab and other militant groups.
