May 27, 2026 - Residents of Mandera joined Muslims across the country in marking this year’s Eidul Adha celebrations, with leaders using the occasion to call for peace, unity, and cooperation with the government.
Speaking during the Eid celebrations at Jamia Mosque grounds, Mandera Deputy Governor Mohamud Ali urged residents to remain committed to maintaining peace and stability in the region.
The Deputy Governor appealed to residents to take the lead in promoting peaceful coexistence, saying development can only be achieved in an environment of security and unity.
He noted that the region has for years lagged behind in development due to insecurity and conflict, adding that residents should support government efforts aimed at improving infrastructure, education, healthcare, and other essential services.
Mohamud Ali further stated that the government is undertaking major development projects across the region and emphasized that it is the responsibility of every resident to cooperate with authorities to ensure the success of those initiatives.
Religious leaders also echoed the message of peace during the celebrations.
