Kenya, June 29, 2026 - The Kisumu Water and Sanitation Company (KIWASCO) has announced a two-week water interruption to residents of Mamboleo Coptic and several surrounding areas due to a mechanical fault at the Coptic Reservoir Tank.
The affected areas include Riat College, Ridge Pack, Lago Resort, Upper Uzima, Corner Mbaya, Wigot, Canaan, Kanyakwar affordable housing, and Rural.
According to the company, the disruption has been caused by water pumping to the OBA area being halted following a fault in the outlet valve at the reservoir.
The utility company has indicated that the outlet valve, which is used to build adequate water levels in the Coptic Tank before pumping water to upper zones, has become non-functional after developing a mechanical fault.
After a technical assessment, the company said restoring water supply will take approximately two weeks.
However, it has not indicated whether alternative measures, such as deploying water bowsers, will be undertaken to ensure residents in the affected areas have access to adequate water during the interruption.
“We wish to inform our customers residing in Mamboleo – Coptic area and the surrounding areas that water pumping to the OBA area has been temporarily suspended due to a fault on the outlet valve at the Coptic Reservoir Tank,” the company stated.
The announcement comes a week after the company announced a two-month water disruption in several areas due to a water pipeline replacement in Mamboleo Kajulu area.
In a statement on June 23, the company said that residents will experience intermittent supply of water during this period.
The affected residents include the entire Mamboleo area, Lolwe- Afya and Maua sections, NYS, Slaughterhouse, Behind National Housing, Makuti area, Show Ground, Section of Maseno Plots, and Kindu and surrounding areas.
Residents were encouraged to ensure that they use the available water sparingly and store sufficient water for use during periods of interruption.
The upgrade of the pipeline is expected to reduce water losses, maintain water quality, and ensure the resilience of the county’s water network.
“We regret any inconvenience caused and ask for your patience during this period of supply interruption. For more details, contact us on 057 500 7000,” it added.
