Quuje was among the politicians and community figures involved in efforts to establish the Northeastern Somalia administration and later became a member of its parliament.
On July 17, Quuje announced her resignation from the parliament and said she was returning to Somaliland. She also said she had abandoned the idea of Greater Somalia.
Explaining her decision, Quuje said she was responding to Irro’s reconciliation initiative and wanted to contribute to efforts to promote peace and unity.
