Jowhar – Hirshabelle State administration will inaugurate a new presidential palace, roads and ministry headquarters in Jowhar today, officials said.
The event is expected to be attended by Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, senior federal government officials, Hirshabelle leaders, traditional elders and politicians among others.
The new presidential palace is the first purpose-built state house since the establishment of the regional administration. Previously, successive Hirshabelle leaders operated from a building that once served as the residence of former Jowhar District Commissioner Mohamed Omar Habeb, commonly known as Mohamed Dheere.
The inauguration ceremony will also include newly constructed roads aimed at improving transportation within Jowhar, as well as the new headquarters of the Ministries of Education and Finance.

Construction of the projects took an extended period due to logistical and environmental challenges.
Meanwhile, Hirshabelle authorities are continuing work on several additional projects as part of a broader urban development plan for the regional capital. These include the Jowhar District Health Center, a football stadium, the Hirshabelle Parliament complex, the Ministry of Agriculture headquarters, and other public infrastructure projects.
The inauguration of these projects is widely viewed as a major step toward strengthening public institutions and infrastructure in Hirshabelle, as Jowhar continues its transformation into a modern administrative capital.
