Mogadishu, 9 September 2026 Nearly 30 universities operating in Somalia are showcasing higher education opportunities, including scholarships and tuition discounts, at a single venue.
The Somali Higher Education Expo 2026 officially opened on Wednesday in Mogadishu and is jointly organized by Damaashaad Events and the Somali Universities Association. The exhibition will run for two days.
It is the first time an exhibition of this kind has been held in Mogadishu, bringing together nearly 30 universities operating across the country in one location.
The exhibition is designed for students who have completed secondary school, giving them access to information about universities, the faculties they offer and the educational opportunities available.
Organizers said the main objective is to make it easier for students to access accurate information that can help them make informed decisions about the university and field of study they wish to pursue.
Mohamed Osman Geedi, Chairman of Damaashaad Events, said students attending the exhibition can access educational opportunities and tuition discounts offered by participating universities.

"The main objective of organizing this exhibition is to create educational opportunities for Somali youth who have completed secondary school," Geedi said.
Participating universities also have an opportunity to meet students directly and provide information about their academic programs, faculties and services.
Organizers hope the exhibition will become an annual and permanent event that strengthens connections between students and higher education institutions.
The exhibition comes at a time when more than 40,000 students have graduated from secondary schools across Somalia, increasing the need for information and guidance on higher education opportunities.
The expo is therefore providing students with a platform where they can access information about higher education opportunities in one place before deciding which university and academic program to pursue.
