MOGADISHU (Dawan) — A crucial political meeting is expected to take place today inside the Halane compound in Mogadishu, bringing together President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and key opposition figures as tensions grow over Somalia’s election process and constitutional disputes.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. and is expected to focus primarily on Somalia’s electoral process and efforts to reach agreement on the country’s election framework.
On the government side, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Deputy Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Jama are expected to attend.
Opposition participants are expected to include members of the Council for the Future of Somalia, among them former Somali President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni.
