The Prime Minister’s visit comes at a time when the federal government is engaged in political consultations on the upcoming leadership transition in Galmudug, currently led by President Kariye. While officials have not formally linked the visit to electoral matters, its timing has fuelled speculation about the future political direction of the state.
Prime Minister Hamza last visited Dhusamareb in January this year, when he attended the Heritage Forum, a gathering that focuses on Somalia’s political, security, and governance challenges.
The latest visit is expected to pave the way for key political discussions, with attention now focused on the outcomes of the meetings between the Prime Minister, Galmudug leaders, and community representatives.
