DJIBOUTI, 6 November 2026 – Djibouti on Thursday launched its first beach festival on Héron Beach in the capital, combining culture, sport, tourism and entrepreneurship, the state news agency ADI reported.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Trade and Tourism Minister Orbis Helaf Orbis and attended by several government members, the head of the Ports and Free Zones Authority, Aboubaker Omar Hadi and the prefect of Djibouti City, Abdi Hassan Ahmed, according to ADI.
The three-day event, held under the theme “Djibouti Blue Generation,” aims to showcase Djibouti’s coastline and the potential of its youth, the agency said. It added that the programme includes cultural, sporting and economic activities across the beach site.
Stands and exhibition spaces host the public, artisans and young entrepreneurs, ADI said. Organisers want the festival to serve as a showcase for local creativity and the opportunities offered by the country’s seafront, the agency reported.
The festival is organised by IN’PACT Social under the institutional sponsorship of the Ministry of Trade and Tourism and runs until Nov 7, according to ADI.
Authorities aim to use the initiative to promote the country’s maritime heritage, boost tourism and give local talent a new platform, the agency said.
