Ethiopia (Dawan Africa) — Ethiopia’s Somali regional state said it collected about 24 billion Birr ($420 million) in revenue during the first nine months of the fiscal year, achieving 83% of its planned target, the regional revenue office said.
Revenue Minister Muxiyadiin Cabdi said the target for the nine-month period was 24 billion Birr and most of it had been collected from districts, municipalities, local governments and other regional institutions.
He said revenue increased by 7.5 billion Birr compared with the same period in the previous fiscal year, reflecting growth in the region’s revenue base.
Overall revenue performance reached 92%, he said, adding that efforts were ongoing to collect the remaining amount in the final quarter.
