Ethiopia, 18 June 2026 – Ethiopia’s National Election Board has approved results from 723 of the 1,139 electoral districts used in the country’s seventh general election, state broadcaster SRTV reported.
The board’s chair, Melatwork Haylu, said at a news conference that the results from those districts had been formally reviewed and approved.
She said the board’s headquarters had received results covering 501 seats in the House of Peoples’ Representatives and 638 seats in regional councils.
The commission did not specify how many of those seats had been formally declared or identify the parties and candidates that had won them.

Melatwork said verification and approval of results from the remaining electoral districts were continuing.
Further results were expected to be announced in the coming days once documents submitted from polling areas had been checked, according to the report.
The board did not provide a timetable for completing the verification process or for announcing the final nationwide result.
