MOGADISHU, 30 October 2026 — Somalia’s Ministry of Information has expressed concern over what it described as false allegations circulated on social media involving photographs of two Somali journalists.
The Ministry said an account on X, operating under the name Counter Terrorism Policing KE, had published photographs of Somali journalists alongside allegations it described as baseless and unfounded.
In an official statement, the Ministry said the allegations targeting the journalists and prominent social media personalities were false and intended to damage their reputations, undermine their freedom of expression, and put their safety at risk.

The two individuals whose photographs appeared in the posts have been identified as Ahmed Said and Maruf Haji. Posts circulated on social media reportedly called on members of the Kenyan public to share with police any information they might have concerning the two journalists.
However, there is no independently verified evidence establishing that the account is affiliated with the Government of Kenya, its security forces, or its intelligence agencies. The identity of the account’s owners or administrators therefore remains unverified.
The Ministry said it is investigating the account and those behind the dissemination of the allegations, in coordination with relevant authorities, with a view to pursuing appropriate legal action against those found responsible.
