Djibouti 22 June 2026 – Djibouti presented a new roadmap to deepen industrial cooperation with China, seeking investment in manufacturing, advanced technologies and export-oriented production chains, the Djiboutian News Agency reported on Monday.
Economy and Finance Minister Ilyas Moussa Dawaleh, who is also in charge of industry, presented the plan at the headquarters of the Export-Import Bank of China, known as China Exim Bank, during a meeting attended by Chinese companies and financial officials.
Dawaleh said Djibouti wants to move into a new phase of economic partnership with China, building on existing infrastructure cooperation to attract more productive investment and accelerate industrialisation.
The roadmap focuses on green industrial parks, the salt value chain, industrial assembly, light manufacturing, agro-food processing and seafood transformation for regional markets.

Djibouti also aims to develop itself as a platform for artificial intelligence, digital innovation and partnerships in advanced technologies, according to the agency.
“The opportunities before us are considerable,” Dawaleh wrote on X, saying he was optimistic about the prospects for Sino-Djiboutian industrial cooperation and its ability to generate mutually beneficial growth.
China is one of Djibouti’s main economic partners and has financed major infrastructure projects in the country in recent years, including in ports, railways and energy.
Djibouti’s authorities are seeking to use those assets to attract industrial investment, expand exports and build a stronger manufacturing base.
