Djibouti, 28 January 2026 President of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh, met with Sudanese Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Al-Tayyib Idriss to discuss Sudan's peace process, and the role of the Intergovernmental Authority for Development (IGAD) in regional peace efforts.
The discussions, which took place today, focused ongoing peace initiatives and highlighted IGAD’s leadership role in peacebuilding.

President Guelleh reaffirmed Djibouti’s willingness to continue supporting Sudan's peace initiatives, stressing the importance of coordinated mediation efforts.
The visit by Sudan's Prime Minister demonstrated Djibouti’s role in peacebuilding in the Horn of Africa. Djibouti’s involvement in IGAD, and its contributions to Sudan’s peace process, are also vital for the overall security of the region.
