Djibouti, June 23, 2026 – Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh congratulated Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali after his Prosperity Party won the June 1 legislative election.
In a congratulatory message on Monday, Guelleh wished Abiy success, saying the result reflected broad support among Ethiopians for the ideals and programme of the Prosperity Party.
“The largely dominant score that led to this new electoral victory is the perfect illustration of the majority support of your compatriots for the ideals, ambitions and values that define your political formation,” Guelleh said in the message, according to the Djiboutian News Agency.
Guelleh said the party’s victory and Abiy’s expected return as head of government would provide new momentum for Ethiopia’s development agenda.
