Dhibouti (Dawan) – Djibouti’s Energy Minister Djama Mohamed Hassan met Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and Moroccan officials to review the country's thermodynamic solar power plant project (CSP), key to rural electrification, according to Djibouti News Agency (ADI).
The Moroccan delegation was led by Mohammed Mdarhri, Commercial Commissioner of Morocco in Djibouti. Discussions focused on the project’s progress, technical design, and implementation plan.
Minister Hassan highlighted the importance of research, innovation, and capacity-building to meet Djibouti’s energy demand and support national development plans. He noted that the project will enhance energy resilience and strengthen domestic industrial capacity.

The Moroccan delegation shared lessons from similar projects in Morocco, pledging to transfer technical expertise to Djibouti to address local environmental challenges. Meanwhile, IsDB confirmed financing arrangements and support for rural electrification and geothermal initiatives.
Minister Hassan emphasized that while 80% of Djibouti’s electricity currently comes from renewable sources, increasing domestic energy production is essential to support industrial growth and national energy security. The delegation will visit the planned plant site, with technical discussions and project planning set to continue in the coming weeks.
