The Minister also expressed the desire to finalize the cooperation agreement between ODDEG and KenGen, Kenya's largest electricity generation company.
He added that once the exploration phase is complete, Djibouti would prioritize investors and companies, including those from Japan, to build its first geothermal power plant.
On the other hand, Japan’s representative, Kotohi Inoue, emphasized the need for ODDEG to finalize a formal agreement with KenGen, and secure a bank guarantee to ensure smooth implementation of the project.
The project is expected to position Djibouti as a major player in energy production by utilizing geothermal energy from beneath the Earth’s surface.
