DJIBOUTI, 30 June 2026 – Djibouti’s labour ministry opened a tripartite workshop bringing together government officials, unions and employers to strengthen workplace safety and occupational health standards, state media reported.
Labour Minister Yonis Ali Guedi opened the workshop on Monday at the Kempinski Palace in Djibouti. The meeting, which runs from June 29 to July 2, is supported by the International Labour Organization.
The workshop is focused on promoting safety and health at work, strengthening national capacity and identifying best practices for preventing occupational risks.
An international occupational safety and health expert, identified as Nadia, is leading the sessions and supporting social partners involved in the workshop.

Guedi said workplace safety and health were a fundamental right and an important factor in economic performance. He said preventing work-related accidents and occupational diseases was among the government’s priorities.
The minister also stressed the role of tripartite dialogue in shaping labour policies, urging government representatives, employers and unions to strengthen cooperation and promote a culture of prevention.
The discussions are expected to cover occupational risk prevention, stronger inspection mechanisms, awareness among labour-sector actors and improvements to the legal and institutional framework.
Recommendations are expected at the end of the workshop to help strengthen Djibouti’s national prevention system and promote safer, healthier and more productive workplaces.
