Kenya, 7 May 2026 - Brighton & Hove Albion have officially confirmed that head coach Fabian Hürzeler has signed a new three-year contract extension, committing his future to the club until June 2029.
The announcement comes amid growing interest in the 33-year-old manager following another impressive season on the south coast, with Brighton once again pushing for European qualification in the Premier League.
Hürzeler, currently the youngest manager in the Premier League, joined Brighton in 2024 after guiding FC St. Pauli to Bundesliga promotion. Since arriving at the Amex Stadium, he has quickly established himself as one of the brightest young coaches in European football.
Brighton’s decision to extend his contract reflects both the club’s satisfaction with his work and their determination to maintain long-term stability amid increasing attention from bigger European clubs.
Reports in recent weeks had linked Hürzeler with potential managerial vacancies in Germany, including interest from Bayer Leverkusen.
Rather than entertain uncertainty, Brighton moved quickly to secure the manager’s future.
In the club’s official statement, Hürzeler expressed both gratitude and excitement about continuing the project.
“I absolutely love working for this club and living in the city and I am delighted to have agreed a new contract,” Hürzeler said after the announcement.
He also described the extension as a reflection of the shared long-term vision between himself and the club, emphasizing his desire to continue helping Brighton challenge established Premier League powers.
The extension represents another major statement from Brighton’s ownership under chairman Tony Bloom. Over the last several years, the club has built a reputation as one of the smartest and most stable organizations in English football, consistently identifying emerging coaching talent and developing competitive squads despite operating with smaller financial resources than many rivals.
More from Kenya
Hürzeler’s rise has been remarkably fast. Born in Houston, Texas, to a Swiss father and German mother, he spent much of his youth within Bayern Munich’s academy system before transitioning into coaching at an unusually young age.
His breakthrough came at St. Pauli, where he transformed the club into one of Germany’s most exciting teams and secured promotion to the Bundesliga during the 2023–24 season. Brighton identified him as the ideal successor to Roberto De Zerbi and appointed him in June 2024.
There were understandable questions about whether such a young coach could immediately adapt to the demands of the Premier League. Hürzeler, however, silenced much of that doubt quickly.
Under his leadership, Brighton have continued to play progressive, aggressive football while remaining highly competitive against stronger opponents. The club finished eighth in his debut Premier League campaign and are once again battling for European qualification this season.
Perhaps most impressively, Brighton have maintained their identity despite repeated changes in players and staff over recent years. That continuity is something the club values highly, and Hürzeler now appears central to the next phase of Brighton’s development.
Brighton chairman Tony Bloom praised the manager in the club’s statement, describing him as “an exceptional coach with a very bright future.”
The timing of the extension is also significant. Brighton remain in contention for European qualification, and securing Hürzeler’s future provides stability heading into what could be another important summer for the club.
In modern football, where managerial turnover is increasingly common, Brighton’s approach stands out. Instead of reacting to short-term pressure, the club continues to build with patience, structure, and long-term planning.
And with Fabian Hürzeler now committed until 2029, Brighton are making it clear they believe their ambitious project is only just getting started.
