Kenya, 1 June 2026 - Taxi-hailing app operator Bolt Kenya on Monday dismissed a fraudulent document purporting to be an official communication from the company that claimed it plans to cease operations in the Kenyan market effective 8 June 2026.
“We wish to categorically state that this document is FAKE and did not originate from Bolt Kenya or any of its authorised representatives,” the statement said.
Bolt’s Senior General Manager, East Africa, Dimmy Kanyankole, said Bolt Kenya remains fully operational and committed to serving their driver-partners and customers across the country.
The company revealed that investigations are currently underway to bring to book the source of the fabricated document that had caused panic both from customers and driver-partners.
Appropriate action will be taken against individuals behind that alleged fake document and subsequent dissemination of misleading information that misrepresents the company.
“We would like to reassure our community that Bolt continues to operate normally in Kenya and remains focused on delivering safe, reliable, and innovative services while creating economic opportunities across the country,” Kanyankole said.
