KISMAYO, 5 November 2026 The deputy commander of AUSSOM Sector Two met Jubbaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islam Madobe in Kismayo Wednesday to discuss security cooperation.
Col. Daniel Musau met Madobe to discuss enhancing coordination between Kenyan troops serving under the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) and the Jubbaland administration, according to the Kenya Defence Forces.

KDF said the visit was part of ongoing engagements between Sector Two commanders and key stakeholders in Jubbaland aimed at strengthening partnerships and supporting regional stability.
The meeting comes amid continuing political tensions between Somalia's federal government and the Jubbaland administration, which intensified following Madobe's re-election in November 2024. The federal government rejected the outcome, while Madobe's administration maintained the vote was legitimate.
The dispute also involves disagreements over electoral arrangements, constitutional amendments and the distribution of powers between the federal government and federal member states.
