MOGADISHU (Dawan) – Opposition politician Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame stated that the opposition rejected proposals to hold protests at stadiums, citing security concerns.
Speaking on the Miizaan Podcast, Abdishakur explained that the opposition prefers moving demonstrations over stationary gatherings in stadiums.
“We requested a march, not a gathering in a stadium,” he said, emphasizing that marches are a constitutional right. The government only needs to be notified to ensure public safety.

He also warned that stadium rallies could be infiltrated by small groups intending to create chaos, which could later be used to blame opposition leaders.
“If we go to a stadium or a university, 100 or 200 people could be sent in to create disorder,” he said.
Abdishakur stressed that the opposition remains committed to peaceful demonstrations and is ready to discuss procedures to safeguard public security during protests.
