Kenya, 15 June 2026 - Politics of endorsement continue to shape the political landscape in Kenya’s North Eastern region as aspirants seek clan and community backing ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The latest beneficiary is FCPA Hussein Hassan Ali, popularly known as Madhobe, who on Monday received endorsement from the Waqle sub-clan of the larger Ajuran community to vie for the Deputy Governor position in Wajir County.

The colourful endorsement ceremony, held at the iconic Korondile Hills, drew a large crowd of professionals, religious leaders, elders, women, youth, and members of the press.

Hussein, widely referred to as Treasurer because of his profession, is regarded as a national figure in Ajuran politics and a key player in Wajir County’s broader political arena.

He emerged as the undisputed choice of the Waqle community.

Community elders, while formally presenting the endorsement, pledged to lobby the wider Ajuran community to rally behind Hussein Madhobe as the preferred running mate for the leading gubernatorial contender in Wajir County.

Addressing the gathering, FCPA Hussein Treasurer said he had worked closely with all three governors who have served since devolution began in 2013.

This experience, he noted, has given him deep insight into county leadership, governance systems, and public administration.Wajir County has had three governors since devolution. First, Ahmed Abdullahi Mohamad ‘Jiir’ (2013–2017 and 2022 to date), then Mohamed Abdi Mahamud (2017–2021, impeached by the County Assembly but later reinstated by the Meru High Court in February 2022), and Ahmed Ali Muktar, who briefly served as governor between May 2021 and February 2022.

"Having served all these leaders, I feel qualified to contest for the Deputy Governor position in the 2027 polls," FCPA Hussein said.

He also highlighted his distinguished service as a financial consultant, during which he handled sensitive roles in the County Treasury with professionalism, integrity, and dedication.
