Somalia, 3 April 2026 – The United Nations Transitional Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS) welcomed President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud's invitation to opposition Somali Future Council for talks, urging inclusive dialogue on national issues.
In a statement posted on X on Sunday, UNTMIS said the meeting could help stakeholders “jointly find a way forward on critical national priorities.”
The mission urged all parties to engage constructively and in good faith, stressing that the interests of the Somali people should remain paramount.
“We renew our call for all parties involved to participate in further dialogue constructively and in good faith, with the interest of all Somalis as the foremost consideration,” the mission said.

UNTMIS added that it remains ready, alongside international partners, to support Somali-led efforts aimed at resolving outstanding political issues.
President Mohamud has invited members of the Somali Future Council for talks intended to address sticky issues including elections, governance, and national unity.
International partners have increasingly called for dialogue among Somali stakeholders amid ongoing debates over political reforms and the country’s electoral process.
