Kenya, June 30, 2026 - The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has received advanced technological equipment from the United Kingdom's National Crime Agency (NCA), in a move aimed at strengthening Kenya's efforts to combat drug trafficking and other forms of transnational organised crime.
The state-of-the-art equipment, donated through the NCA Nairobi Office, is expected to enhance the operational capabilities of the DCI's Anti-Narcotics Unit by improving its capacity to investigate, disrupt and dismantle criminal networks operating across borders.
The equipment was officially handed over by the NCA's International Liaison Officer in Nairobi, Amanda Hickman, during a ceremony attended by DCI Director Mohamed I. Amin and senior officials from both the Kenyan and UK agencies.
Speaking during the handover, Amin underscored the importance of investing in modern policing technology to keep pace with evolving criminal methods.
"To effectively counter criminal networks that exploit digital technologies and complex financial systems, we must equip ourselves with the right tools," he said.
Hickman reaffirmed the UK's commitment to supporting Kenya's security and law enforcement agencies, saying the donation reflects the confidence the United Kingdom has in the DCI's professionalism and its role in safeguarding national and regional security.
"This donation reflects the United Kingdom's confidence in the professionalism of the DCI and its vital role in safeguarding both national and regional security," she said.

According to the DCI, the newly acquired equipment will significantly improve intelligence collection and analysis, secure data storage, case management and the handling of digital evidence, enabling investigators to conduct more efficient intelligence-led operations.
The agency noted that its long-standing collaboration with the UK's National Crime Agency has played a key role in tackling a range of serious crimes, including narcotics trafficking, money laundering, cyber-enabled crime, human trafficking and terrorism financing.
The DCI expressed appreciation to the UK government for its continued support, saying the partnership has greatly strengthened the directorate's investigative capacity and service delivery.
The latest donation further reinforces the growing cooperation between Kenya and the United Kingdom in combating drug trafficking and other organised criminal activities that pose a threat to regional and international security.
