Somalia, 14 August 2026 — President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in Dhusamareb on Friday for a visit to Galmudug focused on strengthening the armed forces, launching development projects and engaging with local communities, the presidency said.
Mohamud and his delegation were received at the airport by Galmudug President Ahmed Abdi Karie, federal and regional officials, and community members, according to the presidency.
The president is scheduled to attend a ceremony marking the graduation of Somali National Army units that have completed training in Galmudug, the presidency said.

He will also launch development projects in parts of the state aimed at expanding public services and improving economic and social infrastructure.
Mohamud is also expected to meet representatives of Galmudug communities to hear their views on development, security, state-building and national priorities, the presidency said.
The visit coincides with Galmudug’s anniversary on 14 August, though the presidency said the trip is centered on military development, public investment and community engagement.
