Kenya, December 5 2025 - Charles Okere's Tusker FC kept their title chase alive with a narrow home win over Ulinzi Stars, climbing to third on the FKF Premier League table and staying just a point behind leaders Gor Mahia.
They started the match like a team that knew what they wanted, keeping the ball and pushing into the Ulinzi box from the first minute. Oruko tried to curl one in with his stronger left foot in the 7th minute but sent it wide. Moments later, Ulinzi almost punished them on the break, only for Momanyi to stretch in with a clean, last-ditch tackle inside the six-yard area.
Tusker didn’t slow down. About a quarter of an hour later, Omollo beat his man and burst into the box, but his chipped attempt didn’t carry enough power, giving the keeper time to recover.
In the 32nd minute, Curtis chased down a loose ball on the left, got ahead of his marker, and was hacked down in the area. The referee pointed to the spot. Denis Oalo stepped up and calmly buried the penalty to give the home side the lead they had been chasing.

Ulinzi had a few half-chances after that but couldn’t convert. With six minutes added, they pushed for an equalizer, but Tusker stayed compact and disciplined, seeing out the final moments to secure the win.
It was Tusker’s second straight victory after last month’s triumph at Mara Sugar. Their next match against Sofapaka could take them to the top of the table depending on results from Gor Mahia and Kakamega Homeboyz.
Ulinzi, on the other hand, saw their three-match unbeaten run snapped. They now sit ninth with 13 points from 12 games, six points off the top.
