Damascus, 29 December 2025 The Syrian Arab Republic has strongly condemned and categorically rejected Israel’s recognition of the Somaliland region, describing the move as a flagrant violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
In a statement issued by the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Damascus said the decision directly undermines the sovereignty, national unity, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, reaffirming Syria’s full support for Somalia’s unity.
The statement stressed that such unilateral actions lack any legal legitimacy and produce no legal consequences, as they are based on the imposition of a fait accompli that contradicts established principles governing international relations.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry reiterated Damascus’s firm and unwavering position in support of the unity and sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia, and its absolute rejection of any efforts aimed at dismantling states or undermining their territorial integrity.
